Timeline for getting Kavango to you 🥳

Hi everyone! 

We're on track to get Kavango to you by July. Our games are in the factory and being produced 🥳 In this update, we're sharing a timeline for production, shipping and delivery and an update on our eco-friendly packaging.

Here is our working timeline to get Kavango to you 🎁

2 April
Cards are charged for delivery 💸

We've extended this by two weeks for a couple of reasons:
1) It'll give you more time to confirm your preferred delivery address in Backerkit. If anyone wants to send their rewards to more than one address, please contact us.
2) We're exhibiting at Zatu Con on 1 April and are hoping to take some pre-orders during the event. Let us know if you plan to go, we'd love to see you!

Eco-friendly packaging

We've decided to package Kavango in a wrap-around cardboard sleeve (that matches the box artwork) instead of using stickers. We felt that stickers risked damaging the box when removed. A cardboard sleeve is a great non-plastic alternative, provides more protection for the game and stops the box getting scratched in transit.
Our manufacturer has also sourced improved bio-plastic bags that will hold the wooden cubes when your game arrives. They are clear in colour but don't be fooled, these are eco-friendly and biodegrable!

Pre-production prototype and timeline!

The pre-production prototype arrived!
We are delighted with it! We'll keep this update short on words and instead share lots of photos. 

Timeline updates
Mass production is starting in a couple of weeks! 
We want to give you all as long as possible to confirm your addresses for delivery, so we are extending the deadlines: 
- Locking orders on 21st March
- Charging cards on 21st March
- Locking addresses on 28th March.
We estimate delivery will be in July/August, we will of course keep you updated if anything changes.

This is a big one...

Happy new year everyone!
Thank you again for all your support, ongoing feedback and patience in waiting for this update. We've been very busy working to get the best possible version of Kavango to you and are excited to show you all the improvements. This update is a big one, so get ready to see lots of exciting new images of the game!

Improvements

You've been wonderful in giving us feedback on the game which has inspired us to make some big improvements. First of all, here's a look at the artwork improvements Matt's been working on...

In addition to upgrading the artwork, we've refined the overall graphic design. Below is the new component list for the standard version of Kavango which gives you an overview of these changes. Keep reading to see more on kickstarter exclusive components! 

Stretch Goals

You must be eager to see all the stretch goals you unlocked...here they are!

We've consolidated all the bonus cards (2 conservation experts, 5 bonus animals and 3 desert-adapted animals) into the climate mini-expansion of ten exclusive cards.

We've added 5 new research tasks instead of the 3 we promised as an added gift to you! The research tasks also have a sleek new look to match our new overall graphic design.

We love these. Don't they look great?! You unlocked 5 extra animeeples with painted details, again exclusive to your kickstarter copies.

You may have spotted 15 goal cards on the component list. This is how we've integrated the "expert variation" stretch goal into the game. The goal cards are dealt out at the start of the game and give you a private goal to work towards throughout the game to secure end-of-game points. As part of this we've added some new "characteristics" to animals, shown in bold in the animal descriptions and new background image styles (e.g. crepuscular animals shown at sunset) to add even more variation and strategy to the game.

Last but by no means least, we've illustrated a detailed map of Kavango so you can learn more about the incredible region that inspired the game.

Surveys are out!

Backerkit surveys are on their way!

We've just sent out all the surveys 🥳 It might take a while for each one to send so please keep an eye on your inbox/junk folder and if you haven't received an email by tomorrow let us know and we'll resolve it asap. 

We've set up an FAQ on our pledge manager which will answer most questions but feel free to contact us if anything isn't clear.

BackerKit surveys are coming!

Hi everyone,

Soon you'll be receiving an email from BackerKit with a special link to your survey. It’s essential to respond to your survey as quickly as possible since we need this information to fulfil your rewards. 

What to expect from the survey 

You do not need to create a BackerKit account to fill out your survey. When you receive the survey invite email, click the survey link to respond. The survey will take no longer than 5 minutes to complete and will give us the important information that we need to send you Kavango! Via the survey you can answer questions about your reward preferences (i.e. what t-shirt size you want), tell us your delivery address, upgrade your pledge and purchase add-ons if you like! After you respond to your survey, you can go back later and change your responses at any time before we close the surveys in March 2024 (we'll give you warning before we close the surveys!). 

Please note that we'll be calculating and collecting delivery fees at a later date once we have the best estimates for everyone. We plan to enter and charge you for shipping in February/March 2024. We'll let you know when shipping costs are finalised and before we charge your cards in your BackerKit survey. We will keep you informed all along the way! In the meantime, you can find the latest delivery estimates on our website here: https://mazazagames.com/kickstarter-delivery.

A note on Facebook and Apple ID 

If you used your Facebook credentials to log in to your crowdfunding account, the BackerKit survey is sent to the email address associated with your Facebook account. If you have another email address that you prefer to use, please let us know via messenger on Kickstarter or contact support at https://kavango.backerkit.com/faq.

After surveys are sent, if you did not receive the email, and you Signed in with Apple ID, your email address might be a private relay email address. We can help locate your survey and update your email address, please message us or post a comment with your Backer ID or Pledge # found on your confirmation. You can learn more about your email hiding for your Apple ID here.
